Literati Lab For Girls Only

A program for girls only to have fun learning generative AI Art & Animation, coding and digital literacy by choosing from the following courses. Art, Fashion & Design, Story Telling, Friendships, Music & Sound or Game Design.

Entrepreneurial Skills

Students on our 4 day program will learn entrepreneurial skills, as they go to work designing, building and discussing sales, marketing & revenue streams for their prototypes.

Technical Skills

All students learn the fundamentals of problem solving like debugging, decomposition and algorithmic thinking. Depending on each students ability and experience, our courses ensure students know fundamental Computer Science concepts like: Loops, variables, co-ordinates, conditionals, operators and functions.

Soft Skills

Our 4 day program is focused on open group projects where students get to experience what it is like working for a pretend Gaming Studio where we work in teams to create projects for a client. The all important skills like: communication, planning, critical thinking, problem solving.

Play

We make sure there is plenty of outside activity we want to spend as much time outside as possible. Depending on the weather, we will be outside for all breaks, morning, lunchtime and afternoon. We have set games and activities if you want to join in. Fresh air is good for the brain!

Take Home

Your children get to take home their own AkoTech CodeCamp T-shirt. Access to all of our courses for two months, which includes certificates of completion. As well as some really cool resources to help them improve their digital skills.

Learn

Depending on your child's level of experience and time at our CodeCamps, students learn the following technical skills whether it be visual or text coding in order of priority, starting with problem solving, debugging, decomposition, algorithms, loops, variables, conditional logic, operators and functions.

Our 4 day programs teach the all important soft skills such as team work, design & planning, communication, time management, Agile project management, critical thinking, presenting, conflict resolution.

Groups

All students are split into 3 groups depending on the level of experience. Ninja [Junior] Hacker [Intermediate] & Developer [Senior]. No matter what group they are in they will be tasked with different courses and for 4 day programs, group projects.

We have multiple courses available for the absolute beginner right through to our expert coders. Our courses are made up of our own 3D gamified, coding and simulated drone course called the AkoVerse as well as generative AI Art & Animation, Design, Art, Story Telling, Sports, Fashion & Design. Text coders can choose our Python, Web Design or Javascript courses. Look out for our Unity courses coming soon.

  • Do I need a personal email to access my courses?
    Yes, you will definitely need your own email to access our learning platform, without it you won’t be able to access our resources.
  • What if my child doesn’t have their own email?
    If they don’t have access to their own personal email or access to their school email we suggest you create a family gmail and give them access to it for the week.
  • What equipment do I need to participate in the program?
    You will need a device with internet access, such as a laptop or tablet, and a web browser. We prefer students bring a laptop that is less than 5 years old and at least 1GB RAM.
  • Can I use a tablet or do I need a laptop?
    You can use a tablet to participate in the program, but again we prefer students bring a laptop that is less than 5 years old and at least 1GB RAM.
  • Do I need to download any software or apps to participate?
    No, you do not need to download any software or apps. The program can be accessed through a web browser.
  • Is the program compatible with different web browsers?
    The program is compatible with most modern web browsers, such as Google Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.
  • Will the program work on a Chromebook?
    Yes, the program will work on a Chromebook as long as it has internet access and a compatible web browser. Preferably less than 5 years old and at least 1GB RAM.
  • Are there any recommended settings or configurations for my device to ensure the best experience?
    No, there are no special settings or configurations required for the device to run the program. Preferably less than 5 years old and at least 1GB RAM.
  • Can I use my parent/guardian's device?
    Yes, you can use your parent/guardian's device as long as it has internet access and a compatible web browser.
  • Can I continue my progress if I switch between devices?
    Yes, as long as you are logged in to the platform, your progress will be saved and accessible from any device.
  • Is there a mobile app for the program?
    There is no mobile app, but the program can be accessed through a web browser on mobile devices.
  • How do I know what course to take?
    When you fill out the enrolment form you will be expected to choose a course. Don't worry if you don't know, you can always change courses when you start the program.
  • How do I enroll in the program?
    You can enroll in our programs by searching for available programs in your region and selecting the Book Now option.
  • Can I get access to the courses straight away?
    Yes when we receive your payment you can access your courses though your Dashboard.
  • How old do I have to be to participate in the program?
    We cater to primary and intermediate school children starting from 7 years old through to 13.
  • Can I work on the program at my own pace?
    Yes definitely if you are on our 2 day programs you can work at your own pace. Our 4 day programs will require you to work in a team for the last two days, but we don’t expect any of our projects to be completely finished as they are only prototypes.
  • Do I have to bring my own food?
    Yes, just like you would with school. Bring your snacks, lunch and drinks.
  • Do I have to know how to code to come to your programs?
    No definitely not, in fact we prefer that you haven’t so we can get you off to a solid start. We have lots of students that have never coded before that come along.
  • Do you group students by their experience levels?
    Yes, after we have worked out your experience we will put you in a group of students who are at the same level as you. If you have a friend that is on a different level than you that is also fine, just let our program managers know.
  • Do we get to play outside?
    Most definitely, we don’t want you spending all day at the computer, we want to spend as much time outside as possible. Depending on the weather we will have you outside for all breaks, we have set games and activities if you want to join in. Fresh air is good for the brain!
  • Can I Change Courses Part Way Through The Program?
    You will have to ask your instructor to see if this is possible. We prefer you to stay on a learning path for as long as you can to see success.
