At AkoTech, we are committed to providing a positive and inclusive learning environment for all participants in our programs. We believe that every child has the right to learn and thrive. However, we recognize that occasionally, a child’s behavior may become disruptive, impacting the learning experience for others. In such cases, we have established a fair and reasonable process to address disruptive behavior while respecting the boundaries and needs of all participants.
Our Expectations: Before delving into the process, it’s essential to clarify our expectations for all participants, including children and their parents or guardians. We expect all participants to:
Dos:
- Show respect and kindness to fellow participants, instructors, and staff.
- Participate actively and engage positively in the learning activities.
- Communicate any concerns or special needs to our staff in advance to help us provide appropriate support.
Don’ts:
- Engage in behavior that disrupts the learning environment, such as excessive noise, aggressive behavior, or refusal to participate.
- Use disrespectful language or engage in bullying or harassment towards others.
- Fail to follow program rules or instructions provided by instructors or staff.
Disruptive Behavior Resolution Process: In the event that a child’s behavior is disruptive, we have established a three-step process to address the situation:
Step 1: Verbal Warning When disruptive behavior is observed, the instructor or staff will provide a verbal warning to the child. This warning will include a clear explanation of the behavior that needs to change and an opportunity for the child to correct it.
Step 2: Time-Out and Parent/Guardian Meeting If the disruptive behavior continues after the verbal warning, the child will be given a time-out from the activity. During this time-out, the instructor or staff will engage with the child to discuss their behavior and expectations. If deemed necessary, a meeting with the child’s parent(s) or guardian(s) will be scheduled to discuss the situation and potential strategies for improvement.
Step 3: Program Manager Intervention If the disruptive behavior persists and is deemed to be significantly affecting the learning experience of other participants, the program manager reserves the right to intervene. The program manager will consult with the child’s parent(s) or guardian(s) to discuss the situation and may implement additional strategies, such as a behavior improvement plan.
Program Manager’s Right to Remove the Child: In extreme cases, if all previous steps fail to resolve the disruptive behavior, and it is clear that the child’s continued participation is not conducive to the overall program experience, the program manager retains the right to remove the child from the program. This decision will be made in consultation with the child’s parent(s) or guardian(s) and will be a last resort.
We understand that each child is unique, and we are committed to doing our best to cater to their needs and help them succeed in our programs. We believe that the process outlined above strikes a fair balance between addressing disruptive behavior and maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment for all participants.
By enrolling a child in our programs, parents or guardians acknowledge and agree to abide by these terms and conditions, including our disruptive behavior resolution process.
